New York Times Ensures the Authenticity of Russian War Captives Execution Video by Ukraine

US leading media, The New York Times, confirmed the mass execution video of Russian prisoner of war by Ukrainian soldiers is true.

They compare the video to satellite imagery, as well as content circulating in the pro-Ukrainian Telegram kalan.

There was a dozen of the Russian army who surrendered and captured, executed the Ukrainian army was filmed in Makeevka Village in the People's Republic of Lugansk.

“By comparing the video to the satellite image, The Times confirmed the video was recorded in a farm house in the village,” NYT wrote in his online publication monitored Monday (21/11/2022).

Some videos according to NYT are part of the series of four drone videos circulated on November 12 by the pro-Ukraine Telegram channel.

The video recording reported the Russian army arrest in Makevka. Times verified other air videos also recently recorded in that village.

It is stated in the report that in the video Russian soldiers are seen lying dead, in a position like when they give up.

"It seems that most of them were shot in the head," Dr Rohini Haar said, a medical advisor at Physicians for Human Rights, to the newspaper.

"There is a pool of blood. It showed they were left just dead. There seems to be no attempt to pick up or help them," he added.

But the war crime prosecutor at Utrecht University Iva Vukusic said it was difficult to determine whether or not the war crime has been committed by Ukraine, based on video evidence.

Meanwhile Dr Haar said when they gave up, the Russian army had been lying down, seemingly unarmed.

"They are considered as hors de combat, or non-combatants, effectively prisoners of war," the medical adviser emphasizes.

The report said the execution video offered a rare look into one horrifying moment among many moments in the war, but showed no how or why the Russian army was killed.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the Ukrainian military had deliberately killed more than ten captured Russian soldiers.

The Russian Investigation Committee opened a criminal investigation since last Friday, on the execution of Russian prisoners of war by the Ukrainian military.

The committee said Russian military investigators also took steps to identify individuals who captured the execution footage.

UN spokesperson Farhan Haq said the UN called for full investigation of all violations of human rights reported in the context of more than 10 Russian PoW brutally executed by the Ukrainian side.

Russia has sent a letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres about this matter. Moscow asks the letter to be distributed as official documents of the UN Security Council and General Assembly.
