    President Biden Bring 'by-by' Rp38 T for RI at KTT G20

    The President of the United States (US) Joe Biden announced the investment amount in Indonesia, including the US$2.5 billion agreement or equivalent of IDR 38.82 trillion (the estimated exchange rate is IDR 15,529 per US dollar) between ExxonMobil and Pertamina.

    The announcement coincides with his presence at the G20 Summit in Bali.


    Investments made by the US in the form of an agreement between ExxonMobil and Pertamina. Cooperation will further assess the development of regional carbon capture and absorption centers in Indonesia.


    Citing Reuters, this cooperation will make sectors in the main industry decarbonize. Some of these sectors include, refining, chemicals, cement, and steel.


    The decline in carbon emissions in this US investment is also claimed to ensure economic opportunities for Indonesian workers and help RI's ideals reach the emission net-zero in 2060 or even faster.


    The joint study conducted by Pertamina and ExxonThis car has reportedly found a potential capacity of carbon storage of 1 billion tons in Pertamina's oil and gas fields. The area is called being able to permanently store RI emissions for the next 16 years.


    In addition, the US and Indonesia also agreed to launch a US$698 million Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) program to help support the development of climate-conscious transportation infrastructure in five Indonesian provinces as well as other development purposes.


    The details of the funds in the cooperation of the MCC program are US$649 million donated by the US and the remaining US$49 million is launched by the Indonesian Government.


    President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appreciates the arrival of US President Joe Biden in the G20 Summit that took place in Bali on November 14-16, 2022. Jokowi expressed his appreciation when holding a bilateral meeting with Biden in Nusa Dua Bali on Monday (14/11) noon.


    "Welcome to Bali, welcome to Indonesia, I really appreciate President Biden's presence at the G20 Summit in Bali," Jokowi said to Biden.


    In that opportunity, Jokowi hopes that the results of this G20 Summit in Bali can produce concrete cooperation that can help the global economic recovery of the Covid-19 pandemic.


    "Senang bertemu lagi dengan Anda (good to see you again), saya sangat senang menyambut Anda di Gedung Putih beberapa waktu lalu," kata Biden merespons Jokowi.


    Biden also expressed his number of expectations about this year's G20 Summit that took place in the midst of an erratic and worrying world situation.


    The US president also raised issues about G20 state cooperation in accelerating global economic recovery and resistance after the covid-19 pandemic, one of which is like the launch of the pandemic fund or pandemic funds.
